Hafod Primary School – Building Planters for a Greener Future
At Hafod Primary School, excitement was in the air as Room 2 Grow Wales kicked off their series of workshops with an engaging planter-building session. The children eagerly rolled up their sleeves, ready to get their hands dirty and learn about the importance of growing their own food.
The workshop began with an introduction to the concept of sustainable gardening. The students learned how planters could be used to create small yet impactful growing spaces, even in urban environments. With guidance from the Room 2 Grow team, the children worked together to assemble wooden planters, filling them with nutrient-rich soil in preparation for planting.
Through this hands-on experience, the students not only developed practical woodworking and gardening skills but also gained an appreciation for where their food comes from. The session sparked enthusiasm, with many students already discussing what they would like to grow in their newly built planters. The excitement didn’t stop there – this was just the beginning of their journey into permaculture and sustainable living!
